Raising A Family

My mother started a tradition years ago that we have all loved and now are continuing on with our children. In a family with 5 children, we all had assigned seats at the dinner table so people weren’t fighting over where to sit each day. So, on our birthday, she would take ribbons and bows and whatever else she could find and would decorate our chair at the table. Oftentimes, the chair stayed decorated for several weeks. It was a fun way for her to give the birthday child some extra attention to help them feel special for the day. Now, our children get excited and love to help me decorate their chair for their birthday!
