Valentine Activities for Toddlers

Toddlers are just starting to explore the world of arts and crafts. Our little girl loves to get out the scissors, crayons, and glue.  She is always in the craft drawer informing us that it’s time to color.

Sometimes it seems overwhelming to do craft projects with toddlers because they tend to be messy and things don’t always turn out the way we planned.  Things go much more smoothly for me when I remember that it’s the experience that matters and not so much the end result.  No matter what the finished product looks like, they will love it because it’s their work.  Here are some suggestions of simple Valentine Activities to do with your toddler.

  • Cut out several paper hearts in different colors and sizes and let your child glue them onto a large sheet of paper.
  • Lay out Valentine stickers and let them decorate a pre-cut heart.
  • Have them dictate as you write all the things they love on a piece of paper.  Let them color on the paper.
  • Cut out several hearts from paper and punch a hole in each.  Let your child string them together to make a necklace.
  • With adult supervision, let them snip with scissors on a paper heart.

Whatever the project, remember the end result won’t look perfect but it will be perfect to them.
