Sing To Your Kids

I love to sing to my kids. I don’t have a great singing voice, but most of the time they don’t mind. Singing is a great way to learn. Studies show that if you want to retain something you will be more successful if you put it to some kind of a tune.

We sing about everything around here. We even sing as we clean. It was very cute this morning to hear our daughter singing her version of the clean up song as she put her toys away. Singing also seems to put us in a better mood. If one of my kids is having a rough time, I sing them a song and it usually fixes the problem. I like to put ordinary words to a silly tune. Before long they are usually giggling and singing along. Songs also work great to calm a fussy baby. If you don’t know the words to a lullaby try humming. It usually works the same.

Remember to sing to your kids. Don’t be shy because you think you don’t have a great voice. They’ll love it and it will help them learn too!
